Second Selection for this year’s Design Week in Milan: food, food-related and solo design.
FOOD
Essen | A Taste Magazine: during the whole week of Salone del Mobile 2012 – from April 17 to 22 – we will have a busy schedule.
Invited by RADIO, which together with LAGO looks after the Appartamento on Via Brera 30, Andrea Vigna and Irene Pollini Giolai, will show a live version of two video formats which we are preparing: Product, the world of the raw materials and the foundations of Fashion Food Pairing.
Our talents at work: Fleur Louis will present a project related to primordial food “how you make bread”, distributing dehydrated sourdough to take away by plane, Carlo Gibertini with Food Hospital will make a crisp and invisible work of food design, while Marcella Foschi will show how colours of food affect our taste perception.
Performances of 2 Guests we already had on the pages of our magazine: sweet and salty butter sculture by Agathe Bouvachon; the malleable jug Pouch by Olivia Flore Decaris and the project created especially for us, Ledeggs, a chocolate and light surprise by DuHo (Decaris – Thibaud)
When you will come to visit us you’ll walk through special sound corridors thanks to the installation created by RADIO, to which we added colored meringues created for us by Natascia Fenoglio and you will smell the fragrance of aromarium of le boule de vert.
You will be able to taste the Essen Cocktail surprise, for those who haven’t subscribed to our newsletter yet.
Everyday in the afternoon you will be able to taste some of the products which appeared in the Essen Taste section, and a special hypermineral water of vulcanic origins: San Martino water.
Andrea’s dinners, with reservation and limited places, will be focused on the products analyzed in the afternoon, such as 7Gr coffee and Rummo pasta.

Furniture Tasting | Ryosuke Fukusada & Rui Pereira
Japanese Ryosuke Fukusada and Portuguese Rui Pereira, both based in Italy, will present a project of edible furniture. By combining the Japanese tradition of small cakes and the Portuguese ‘ovos moles’ they created special molds where you can build a small edible house A yummy version of design consumption.

Food and Wood | Karimoku New Standard (featuring Arabeschi di Latte)
Beautiful wood creations by designers of Karimoku New Standard, inspired by the concept of Everyday Life, meet in the Tokens culinary installation food tastings created with materials extracted from trees. It is a good chance for you to taste the natural flavors of pine cones, pieces of manna and spirits of trees, presented with the typical Japanese creative attitude.

Upmarket | Bookable
Published by pr / undercover in a limited edition, bookable is an on-going catalog of edible performances (with cakes/sculptures by Natascia, for sale at postoristoro) that will appear in Upmarket, a sort of self-commissioned, traveling open-gallery that will open its first edition by stopping in Milan. Bookable is a conceptual catalog which allows you to book and purchase anywhere in the world the inventions of artists that are reviewed in it. The catalog is signed by Diana Marrone, editor, art director Danilo Capasso and, in his first apparition, Beppe Brancato as director of photography and author of the photos.

Printing Tests | Diego Grandi
Yeah, it have already been 15 years since the birth of Salone Satellite, and an exhibition is the best way to celebrate the anniversary. Among the 15 designers who have been invited to participate, Diego Grandi interprets the theme “Design <-> Technology,” with an installation that transforms walls and ceiling in an imaginary world in four colors: the graphics, transformed by Jannelli & Volpi in 2D wall covering, contain in its interior a new three-dimensional world, made of sculptural volumes and ascending gradients.

The Shepherds of Stuff | Royal Academy of Art, The Hague
The Schools of Art and Design always stand out among the most interesting exhibitions of Salone del Mobile in Milan, with a specific value for those located in Northern Europe. Dutch Royal Academy of Art this year will focus on the work of students engaged in various disciplines, with interaction with the environment and the concepts of natural and artificial.

Perspectives “Belgium is Design” | Belgian contemporary design at Triennale
A cultural perspective on design, that is dealing with the boundaries and horizons of design, the value of engineering and its impact on the harmony of our everyday life.
