It was 1820 when Dutch physicist Hans Christian Orsted dicovered the electromagnetic field; at the same year Beethoven composed the sonatas 109, 110 and 111;Manzoni wroted the Adelchi and the Dehillerin family opened its kitchenware and pastry boutique in the heart of Paris.
Year passed by from that time, and after 191 years the Dehillerins continue to manage the store for lovers of the cuisine: not just for professional though.
Almost everything is similar to the early old day so the rue Coquille ‘s shop has been included in tourist guides that follows the paths of historical Paris, and quoted in numerous books on the city of lights.
The store space is fullfilled with more of 4000 catologue kitchenware items even the ceiling hangs tools from different forms and functions. In the darkness of the boutique pots, whisks, spatulas, molds, knives shine like the stars in the night sky.
Two costumers type can be detected in the boutique: the curious ones and the chefs.
The first come from all over the world and it’s easy to recognize them as holding hands together behind his back, walking with an uncertain step, looking around and upwards to scrutinize the thousands of objects that fill the small vertical boutiques, and to admire the utensils as if they were pieces of art on display at the Louvre.
The chefs go straight to the kitchenware they need, testin the strength of the product. If they didn’t find out what they need, the start to moan and scream:“Eric, where did you put the sauteuse evasée of 16?(The high-sided pan to cook the food jump)?”
Just an example. Obviously they are extremely bothered by curious that clutter the the tall but narrow corridors of the warehouse.
I asked Eric the secret behind this longevity.
With a lost look he said: “Everything happened naturally” . “ We do not knock on the door of anyone, we do not like marketing, but we put up an internet site for foreign customers because they have insisted, no product China Export is on our shelves and we are proud of our range of copper pots. “
Ok, just pointing out Monsieur Dallerin: I quite understand that you and your collaborators are extremely busy but why do not cleaning up the windows from the dust?No way? Understood, maybe it’s a good luck charm.
