Daisuke Tanabe is a Japanese producer and beat maker. Since he was 16 years old he produces sounds ranging from ambient to glitch with jazz and folk inspirations; He has been published by several interesting labels, including Ninja Tune .
We met him at Sonar , after his live from the stage of the Red Bull Academy .
While we were chatting about his eating habits and his music, it appeared a baguette and we have asked him what would be the filling of his dreams, realizing the very first baguette interview of the history of Essen.
While you are reading the little interview with Daisuke and listening to his last track Mess and start thinking of your dreamy filling lustful desires of taste.
How was your experience with the Red Bull Music Academy?
I can only say that it was beautiful, educational and above all it taught me a lot about music communication and promotion.
How’s Tokyo electronic scene?
The scene at this moment as you can imagine has some difficulties for all the consequences of the tsunami.
There are many clubs, although I not a clubber. We are more producers than clubbing lovers. Listen to Cosmpolyphonic radio it could give you a good overview
of Japanese sound.
Now, let’s talk about food. What you like to eat while you’re producing stuff?
I prefer to eat rather than drink, and no, I’m not talking about alcohol. The water is very important to me, I drink it a lot at any time while composing. The coffee is another constant beverage of everyday, and I look forward to trying the Italian espresso as soon I’ll able to play in Italy.
Finally when you eat, are in Tokyo some places where you like to go dining?
Honestly, I prefer to eat at home, I feel more comfortable and I can choose the food, that for me must be organic.
I really like to cook and I do it often, but I hate rearrange and clean up the kitchen after the meal. When I’m on tour my meal habits has to change so I’ll go dining. Here in Barcelona I have been a disaster,I have not been able to taste anything in Catalan only falafel and pizza.
(We take a little breath, then I pull out a baguette, editor note)
I brought you this baguette. Let’s imagine to being able to insert into it whatever you like , whether real or invented, edible or not.
Gosh, I do not know. Maybe I will fills it of bacon, lettuce and eggs till its capacity . It may seem trivial, but it’s the filling that I love most.
(I would have expected something like, I would eat the rainbow with the bacon, but Daisuke seems amused and decides to put his lighter into the baguette and to be shooted…)
